Why do we limit how many minutes of videos you upload anyway?

We would love to give your Sumolings everything unlimited for life, but it´s economically impossible.

Every video file you upload, goes through a process called "encoding". The encoding process prepares your video in a way, that users with different display sizes and internet connection speed can watch your video fast and in in great quality.

This process is resource and cost intensive.

Given the generous monthly and total encoding deal limits, you can see how not controlling the amount of total and monthly encoding can lead to problems.

So in the interest and fairness to the whole Sumoling-community, we have to put safeguards in form of monthly and total encoding limits in place, to ensure long term financial stability.

On the plus side, you can enjoy a super fast uploading and encoding experience that takes just a couple of minutes to upload and encode a feature length film.

For example the total process from upload to "ready for playback" for this (https://alugha.com/videos/d355d15b-9e79-11ea-b583-65c5e11a3c81) 60 minute movie took less than 3 minutes.
