Since our premium encoding is cost intensive on our part, the monthly upload minutes are a layer of protection against sudden encoding and costs spikes. We would love to give you Sumolings all the freedom to use your total upload minutes however you choose. Unfortunately this could potentially lead to very cost intensive encoding usage spikes in some months. This would have the potential to inflate our encoding costs to a level, where we simply wouldn´t be able to operate.

So both measures are our way to control the overall and monthly occurring costs, to ensure long term financial stability.
